The team from UV Charlottesville’s department of obstetrics and gynecology found that more than 50 percent of pregnant patients improved their seatbelt practices after an OB/GYN discussed it. According to the study, approximately three percent of pregnant women are involved in motor vehicle crashes, and unbelted pregnant women are more likely to experience excessive bleeding than belted pregnant women after an accident. The findings from this study were first reported at last week’s 55th Annual Clinical Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
